Local Certificates are an alternative to Virtual Certificates. Like Virtual Certificates, Local Certificates are also provided to the Retailer by EchoStar for use with sales made by the Retailer but installed by EchoStar. The difference is that Virtual Certificates reside in a "bucket" of numbers on the EchoStar server and when one is needed your Decentrix website links to the EchoStar server and pulls one of your certificates. This Virtual Certificate interface logic is part of your Decentrix website for no additional charge. Local Certificates in contrast are a "flat file" of numbers provided by EchoStar directly to the Retailer. These numbers are loaded "locally" to your website and when one is needed, the site logic looks to this list of numbers instead of linking off to EchoStar. Some Retailers prefer this Local Certificate method since the numbers are more easily re-used if the prospect orders from your website and then subsequently you can not get a claim number for this subscriber.
